Object : Blood flows in the Beni territory : A genocide looms !
Mr. President,
How
are you this morning ! I do not know how to go about writing to Mr. President
of the Congo.. Whatever! I imagine the daily life of every human being does not
eclipse itself because of his high responsibilities. Yes, Mr. President of the
Republic? Everyone is in agreement. I testify to this because I myself voted
for you! But first of all, you are a man. You breathe, you eat, you drink. You
have a wife and children. You are a man. You experience moments of joy and moments
of suffering. The exaltation, the glory, the suffering, the fragility, the finite
rhythm punctuate the life of women and men on earth.
Women
and men! They are not eternal. They die. The strongest can live beyond 80
years. Anyway men must die. No one escapes this. This is the indispensable
finiteness. Given this reality, as a human, I have several questions arising
from an apparent cruel banality (massacres, rapes, kidnappings, slaughters)
suffered by populations in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo . Why
kill children who have not yet lived to the fullest? Mr. President, this is not
fiction! The images are atrocious. They are in plain sight. Children crushed with
hammer blows. It's not just children. Adults are also bound and their throats
cut. Numerous are the men like you who are crushed by death. These women, like
your wife, who are raped and assassinated. The bodies of their children lie in
the blood that is flowing on the red soil of Beni. The most recent case
happened yesterday (May 3, 2016) as reported by the radio motor of Oïcha:
"Sixteen
persons killed with hatchets, axes and knives and other fire arms, this is the
provisional toll of the raid of Ugandan rebels of the ADF alleged in the
village of MINIBO, in the resort of BAUNGATSU-LUNA close to that of Eringeti.
According to sources at the local level, the murders took place near the
Nepalese peacekeepers MONUSCO position in Eringeti. The FARDC were well warned
by the population. But they intervened after the enemy fled to an unknown
destination. Note that the operation began at around 18 pm on Tuesday to Wednesday
evening, May 4th. Recall that since last Monday, 21 people,
including 6 of the same family who were in a place of mourning LESE were
removed. So far the people of this village are questioning themselves on the
destination and the fate of the hostages. The local notability deplores the
inaction of the army to protect the population. Published Wednesday, May 4,
2016 "
Dear
President of the Republic, I know you are a politician. You hold to the project
of your political party. The project ! This is the security, development,
education, health, elections ... peace. A project for the whole Republic. Even
a project for the territory of Beni, and Lubero. Also a project for the East of
the Republic.
Moreover,
I know that you are overwhelmed by your presidential responsibilities and the agenda
of your partners and political sponsors. You are therefore an important
president. You have power. However, these scribbled lines for you, are aimed
first at a man. A man of flesh and, occasionally experiencing the vagaries of
finiteness and suffering. It is to this man that I write. Yes, he wears the hat
of the president, but he remains human. I guess that the Presidency of the
Republic does not take away his humanity.
I
ask him to take an interest in what happens in Beni and in Kivu. Would he consider a serious investigation for
a proper justice? If this man to whom I write is president of the Republic, he
is there to govern peoples. Yet the dead number themselves in the millions. 8
million deaths. And every day that number keeps growing. At this rate, you,
this man can become the president of the dead, the president of the cemeteries,
the president of mass graves. Dear Mr. President, Beni survivors and Kivu
wonder if they are still part of the territory which you are supposed to govern
...
These
survivors and their friends are still numerous. Everyone will write to you.
Please take time to read their anxieties ... Can they still count on you? Are
you still able and competent to hear these cries of Beni humans. If you are
always competent but when you do not act, the logic of complicity risk that you
be accused. Thank you for the attention you already gave to this letter.
Signed

Republic of Congo in Kinshasa. I hope my letter will reach its destination.
